Currently at Pindari, the principal and sole practitioner is
Michael Dufty, Bach.Appl.Sc(Physiotherapy).
Professional Background
Having graduated from the
University of Sydney in 1993, Michael has vast experience in the
public and private sectors of physiotherapy. Michael is also
a registered member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA).
Michael has worked as a general
physiotherapist in a variety of private clinics both in Sydney and
abroad in the UK, as well as an orthopaedic clinician at both
Canterbury and St George Hospitals. This included a role as
Senior Hydrotherapist at the St George Hydrotherapy Pool.
Michael also has extensive
experience in sports physiotherapy, having worked in the NRL with
the Illawarra Steelers in 1999, and most notably as
physiotherapist to the NRL Referees for 5 years from 2002 to 2006.
The highlights of which were appointments as Head Trainer for the
2004 and 2005 Grand Finals, as well as State of Origin fixtures.
Michael has also enjoyed
stints as a physiotherapist and sponsor to local sports teams such
as Forest Rangers Premier League, Mortdale Heights Cricket Club,
and Grandviews Bowling Club. Additionally his stint at
Brighton Sports Injury Clinic in the UK in 1997/98 complemented a
role with Sussex County Cricket in the English Competiton.
As part of Pindari
Physiotherapy, Michael has also enjoyed a close working relationship
with Peakhurst Touch and Penshurst Youth Cricket Club,
of which we
are also a proud current sponsor.
Michael's personal sports
interests include rugby league, cricket, football, touch and golf.
Treatment Principles
Michael is primarily a
manual therapist. He specialises in deep soft tissue
releases and massage, and has a strong emphasis on stretching and
strengthening the body to correct and maintain anatomical
alignment.
To complement his manual
techniques, Michael has designed several exercise programs for the
client to maintain and improve their musculoskeletal health. Indeed he has also
designed this website to enable his clients to easily access these
programs through
Client Resources.
To achieve the best
results, he aims for maximum one on one treatment time, and
subsequently appointments are made at 40 minute intervals, not 20
or 30.
Minimal electrotherapy is
used, unless indicated in acute injuries where ultrasound or
interferential may assist in healing damaged tissue.
Michael's philosophy is
total commitment to helping you achieve your goals. So
whether you need an emphasis on manual therapy, exercise programs,
or referral onto other health professionals, you can be sure that
"customer service" is the priority at Pindari Physiotherapy.
